The Verger's Lodge

The bedrooms on the Upper level have a small balcony and the rooms on the Patio level walk out directly onto the terrace. All rooms have a table and chairs for sitting outside.

Breakfast is included in the price and served on the terrace during the summer months. Italian breakfast pastries bought fresh from the ‘pasticceria’ early in the morning, served with Italian coffee brewed on the stove. Or there is a choice of teas. Fruit juice is also served, fresh Tuscany bread and jams. For those who prefer a savory breakfast, you can choose a breakfast roll filled with ‘prociutto ham’ and cheese, or mozzarella and tomato.

Breakfast between 8.00 a.m. until 9.15 a.m.

These rooms have the option of air conditioning if required.(€14 a day)

How to reach I Melograni B&B

For people with GPS
The nearest road recognized is Via Dei Granai which leads into Via Maremmana II Tratto where we are.

From Florence
Exit off the AUTOSTRADA A1 at FIRENZE SCANDICCI. Follow the BLUE signs for the SUPERSTRADA SGC FI.PI.LI in the direction PISA-LIVORNO. After 20 km exit at Montelupo Fiorentino. At the first stop turn right; at 2nd stop turn left.
.(do not turn left and go under the bridge.)
Go along 50 metres to another junction and turn left. Follow the signs to
SAMMONTANA /VILLANUOVA and follow the road which goes past a Maddonna in a niche then underneath a bridge and past a very large modern factory on your right.You know you are on the right road because there are tall cypress trees along each side of the road
When you arrive at VILLA NUOVA you pass through the narrow village corner and you will immediatly pass a bar on your left. Carry on for 100 metres and stop at the red STOP sign.At the stop sign you will be directly infront of a yellow painted villa with a tower. Turn left here and follow the road with the sign "VIA DI SOTTO POGGIO PER S.DONATO"
There are a group of trees on your left immediatly after you turn. Do not go off to your left up the hill .Follow the wide tarmacked road with the white lines on either side.

You know you are on the right road as there is a narrow bridge under some pine tees after about 500 metres where you have to slow down to go over. There is also group of yellow houses with a pink one in the middle on the right hand side.

After 3 km you will see on your right a long low house with many chimneys and a house with red shutters. Opposite is a little road on your left called Via dei Granai. Turn into this road.
The road goes up hill. After about 300 metres turn left and continue on until you arrive at a group of houses.Here is a sign written Via Maremma II Tratto.Turn right and
continue on for another 300 metres then right for another 300 metres. You
will arrive at a big house .
The first part of the villa is I MELOGRANI. You can park your car in the car park which is indicated before the villa. There is an orange tractor in the corner of the car park where there is a path leading to reception.

From Livorno/Pisa: as airport below

From Siena: 60 km.
Take Superstrada (Green Sìgns) in the direction to Florence. Come off at POGGIBONSI and follow the signs for CERTALDO/CASTELFIORENTINO/MONTESPERTOLI. Before Montespetoli you arrive at ORTIMINO. Here turn left for Empoli. After 8 km you arrive at some traffic lights. Turn right and after 500 mts on your right (opposite a house with red shutters) is Via dei Granai. Take this road. After 1 km you will arrive at B&B car park.

From Viareggio/Lucca: 50 km
Get on the AUTOSTRADA (green signs) going in the direction of FIRENZE. Exit Altopascio. Follow signs to Fuccechio then Empoli. At Empoli cross the Arno River and going straight you pass Piazza Vittoria (fountain). Drive towards station on Via Roma. Turn right at traffic lights and then the first left. Go under railway bridge heading in direction Montespetoli. After the second roundabout there are traffic lights. Turn left. After 500 mts on your right is Via dei Granai (opposite house with red shutters) Take this road. After 1 km you will arrive at B&B car park.

By train

Empoli train station: 4km.(A taxi costs approx 11 Euro)
From Florence take train direction PISA/SIENA/LIVORNO.
From Pisa take train destination Florence.

 

From Florence airport: 20km.
Come out of the airport. At the traffic lights bare right following the roundabout half way round then follow the indication (on the right) for PONTE ALL’INDIANO. Go up the slip road/ramp onto the fly over and then straight for 3km. After 3km you will see on your right a deposit for cars, scooters and motobikes.
